Have you thought about focusing your job search on the industries that are going to have the greatest demand for employees over the holidays? Do you know if a city near you has the greatest demand of jobs to fill?
The Manpower Employment Outlook Survey has the answers to these questions. Even better is that the latest survey reflecting hiring plans for the next three months of 2015 was just released.
Here are some of the highlights from the Q4 2014 survey:
- 21% of U.S. employers plan to hire in Q4 – that’s almost one out of five employers. Keep an eye on the companies you want to work for; chances are some will be hiring.
- Top industries for hiring include: Leisure & Hospitality, Professional & Business Services, Transportation & Utilities, and Wholesale & Retail Trade
- Only 6% of employers plan to let staff go; 71% plan to keep their workforce steady.
- The best metro areas for hiring include: McAllen, TX; Greenville, SC; Stockton, CA; Tampa, FL; Cape Coral, FL. If you are in those areas, your job prospects are higher than the average.
How is this information obtained? The Manpower Employment Outlook Survey asks hiring managers what their hiring plans are for the next 3 months. It is the only forward-looking survey of its kind, unparalleled in size, scope, longevity and area of focus. Knowing the results can help you target your job search to industries that are going to have the greatest need for people or to cities with the greatest number of jobs to fill.
