Job seekers have a lot on their minds. And, in fact, many job seekers have a lot of the same questions. The next few Career Coach blog posts will take a look at some of these commonly asked questions.

Today’s Question: Since networking is the #1 way to find a job – how can I build my list of networking contacts?

Answer:  Start by making a list of everyone you know and prioritize that list. Include friends, family, co-workers, coaches, classmates, teachers, ex-supervisors and more. Everyone you know and everyone you meet is a potential contact. When you talk to your contacts ask them if they know anyone that they would recommend that you talk to. Your contacts can help you make the connection and you can take over from there. Attending professional conferences/meetings and volunteering are other great ways to build your skills as well as you list of contacts.
