According to the latest Manpower Employment Outlook Survey released today by ManpowerGroup, 22% of employers plan to hire in the third quarter of 2013. This is up 11% from this time last year. While these may not seem like the best numbers possible, at least it’s positive. There are a lot of surveys and reports about the job market out there, sometimes it can be tough to figure out what that means to the average job seeker. Let’s take a look at what the Manpower Employment Outlook Survey is really saying and how it can impact your job search.

Survey says:

  • 22% of U.S. employers plan to hire in Q3 – that’s over one out of five employers. Keep an eye on the companies you want to work for; chances are some will be hiring.
  • All industry sectors revealed positive outlooks – that means improvement is not limited to one type of work environment.
  • This is the highest employment outlook in four years. Hopefully, the momentum will continue.
  • The best metro areas for hiring include:  Des Moines, IA; Nashville, TN; Grand Rapids, MI; Phoenix, AZ; San Antonio, TX; Charlotte, NC; Columbus, OH; Salt Lake City, UT. If you are in those areas, your job prospects are higher than the average. Plan your moves now.

So, use these results to help guide some of your job search decisions. Also, look at the results and feel good that there are going to be jobs out there. They may not be everywhere, but there definitely are some sunny spots.
