Earlier this week, we posted our latest compendium of social networking stats. Approximately .08 nanoseconds after it hit the Blawg, yet another study came out.

According to comScore, social networking is more popular than ever. In fact, 1 out of every 6 minutes online is now spent social networking. That’s doubled since 2007, when it was merely 1 out of every 12.

Some other semi-interesting stats:

  • Facebook addiction is growing. Facebook has now ensnared 73% of total U.S. internet users. The average time spent on the site each month has risen a whopping 31% — from 4.6 to 6.3 hours over the past year.
  • LinkedIn, Twitter and Tumblr are on the rise, too. LinkedIn has grown 58% in the past year. Twitter is up 13%. The relatively new blogging site Tumblr is up 166%.

My prediction: By 2015, 1 out of every 1 minute spent online will be spent social networking. (I’m only partially kidding.)
